HAVING lived a nomadic lifestyle since the death of his wife a few years ago, musician Kevin Goodbun is grounding his feet in Dalby for just one day as a special guest performer at the Country Music Social coming up this Sunday.

He has left his home in Lake Macquarie, NSW to travel the country in search of performance opportunities for his own one-man-show.

His travels have now taken him to Dalby where he will be just one of three guest performers at the social.

Mr Goodbun said this was his first time visiting Dalby, and was excited to see what new experiences the town would grant him.

"I expect a few nerves but I guess I'll be meeting lots of new people which is always good,” he said.

Mr Goodbun was first found by Dalby's own Joyce Hughes, who heard him perform in St George and knew she had to have him come out to Dalby to show the town what he was made of.

Mr Goodbun brings to the stage a fusion of country and rock genres, and hopes audiences will appreciate the "unique” sound he brings to the stage.

"I get a big kick out of, when I'm on the stage, seeing people singing along with the songs that I'm singing,” he said.

"The real kick that I get is when I get approached from people in the audience afterwards and they say 'I really liked your choice of songs'.

"Most of the festivals that I go to, it's repeat after repeat, it's like pressing the repeat button for bush ballads.

"Whatever I do, people seem to accept that I'm a little bit different.

And that makes me feel comfortable on stage. I know that even though I'm not doing bush ballads in a bush ballad festival, most people are going to accept what I do.”

Joining Mr Goodbun as a guest performer will be Maggie Stokes.

A former Dalby girl herself, Mrs Stokes will be making her way back to her hometown by invitation from Country Music Social president Brian Weier.

"I run a music festival every year and I've known Brian for quite a while from there,” Mrs Stokes said.

"He likes the way I perform so he asked us along for a special spot.

"It's lovely... It's really nice to be invited.”

She will be performing plenty of classic country hits from Dolly Parton and the likes, and hopes the audience will enjoy her music as much as she enjoys playing it.

A third performer, Carl Rowlands, will also be making a guest appearance.

Admission to the show is $5. Anyone is invited to perform at the social, held at the senior citizens hall starting at 1pm.
