STUDENTS of Dalby Christian College welcomed a cool change to the scorching hot weather at their annual swimming carnival on Tuesday.
The day saw plenty of participation from the students, as well as some healthy competition between the houses: Carey, Judson and Taylor.
Taylor took out the prize for the house with the most points, much to the excitement of many students who donned their house colour, green, in an act of patriotism.
Head of Sport Rodney Crowther said students were more than happy to take a dive into the deep end and give the races a go.
"We had high levels of enthusiasm and participation amongst the students,” Crowther said.
"We had some serious competition for the the main swimming events along with some body board relays and some life-saving relays as well.”
The interactions between the older and younger students is something the head of sport said he was pleased to see.
"The boogie board relay was definitely one of the highlights,” Crowther said.
"That was basically nine-year-olds to 17-year-olds, one of each age group in the boys, and one of each age group in the girls, doing a relay back and forwards.”
The day ended with an intense race against teachers, parents and students.
"It ended up winning quite comfortably by the parents,” Mr Crowther said.
"The parents managed to pull that one off.
"They certainly did pretty well.”
