Police sacrifice appreciated and recognised by public

ON ITS 30th anniversary, National Police Remembrance Day was more than just a time to thank our local cops for their daily sacrifices while in service.

ON ITS 30th anniversary, National Police Remembrance Day was more than just a time to thank our local cops for their daily sacrifices while in service.

It was a day to appreciate those sacrifices and remindthe public of theduty police officers had to protect their communities and the risks that accompanied those duties.

In an address to the congregation at St John's Anglican Church, Acting Superintendent Graeme Paine expressed the ongoing need for days likePolice Remembrance Day.

"National Police Remembrance Day is about acknowledging our policing history,” Supt Paine said.

"It's about acknowledging service and ultimate sacrifice.

"It's about acknowledging the reason police officers chose to serve their community over150 years ago are largely still the same reasons we choose to serve today.”

Representatives from Western Downs Regional Council, Dalby Fire Station, paramedics and Dalby Police Station placed wreaths in memory of the fallen officers.
