A violent Cunnamulla man has walked from court after being sentenced for bashing two of his former partners 19 months apart.

Dalby District Court was told William Walter John Jordan was in and out of jail for continual offending since he was 18, being sentenced on several occasions for violence.

Crown prosecutor Matthew Le Grand said the 38-year-old’s latest run with police occurred in April 2019 in Chinchilla, where he assaulted his ex-partner.

Jordan called the woman a “slut” and “whore” during an argument, before pinning her against the wall and striking her in the face.

Mr Le Grand said she suffered an injury to her eye and bruising to her jaw.

Jordan spent almost a year in custody before being released on bail, to then go on and carry out a similarly disturbing attack on another woman.

The court heard Jordan punched his new partner multiple times in the face and body in public at Leslie Dam in November 2020.

The woman’s left eye was swollen shut because it was that badly bruised, according to Mr Le Grand.

Jordan had been in custody since November last year.

Defence barrister Frank Martin said the 38-year-old planned to move back to Cunnamulla after his release, and would address his drug problem.

Judge Alexander Horneman-Wren said his crimes related to women who were “unfortunate enough” to fall into a relationship with him.

“Women who enter domestic relationships with you require a degree of protection,” he said.

Jordan pleaded guilty to two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, possession of utensils or pipes, and possession of property suspected of being used in connection with the commission of a drug offence.

He then pleaded guilty to obstructing police, breaching bail, failing to appear, and public nuisance.

Jordan was given a total of 36 months’ jail, but was placed on immediate parole.

Judge Horneman-Wren declared 625 days in pre-sentence custody as time served.
