Toni Charles Fordham: Man’s brutal attack on stepdad with cooking pot

The Dalby court heard the man headbutted his stepfather and attacked him with a cooking pot, injuring the older man so severely he was hospitalised with facial injuries.

Police appeal for information following assault

A man headbutted his stepdad before hitting him over the head with a cooking pot during a wild family dispute, which ended with the older man taken to hospital with facial injuries.

The Dalby Magistrates Court heard Toni Charles Fordham became violent when his stepfather accused him of not taking proper care of his son.

Police prosecutor Derek Brady said an argument broke out and Fordham headbutted his stepfather before hitting him over the head with the cookware, causing blood to splatter all over the hallway.

Fordham fled the scene before police arrived, but was soon located nearby.

The learner driver was also busted driving with marijuana in his system a month earlier.

Magistrate Kerrie O’Callaghan berated the man for his “totally inappropriate” response to a family argument, and for arming himself with a weapon.

Fordham pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily harm while armed, and drug driving.

He was sentenced to six months’ probation and disqualified from driving for three months.

No conviction was recorded.
