A 51-year-old Dalby man has faced court after going on a verbal tirade against his partner after she wouldn’t turn down her music and come to the dinner table.
The man faced Dalby Magistrates Court on Tuesday pleading guilty to breaching a protection order made on June 17 and failing to surrender himself into police custody.
The order prohibited the man from threatening, abusing or intimidating his partner.
The court was told on September 21 at about 7pm police were called to a job in Dalby after a woman said she was being threatened by her partner.
When police arrived they heard a woman crying and screaming from outside the home. The court was told they entered and found the man intoxicated, drinking a bottle of beer, swaying and slurring his words.
The respondent told police the man had threatened to throw her Bluetooth speaker into the garden if she didn't “turn that f--king thing down”.
She also alleged the man had stood over her while she was seated, grabbing and shaking the chair and calling her a “stupid c--t”.
She told police she was “sick of being abused” by the man.
The court was told the man also recorded himself yelling at his partner with police later seizing his phone to view the footage.
The man told police he had become aggravated after his partner had refused to come to the dinner table after he had cooked her “a mad feed” and was frustrated that she was listening to loud music.
Meanwhile on October 8 the man was charged after failing to appear in Dalby Magistrates Court for a separate matter.
After the man’s absence a warrant was issued for his arrest with police attending his property at 5.53pm where he was nowhere to be found.
Police contacted the man and he turned himself in at the police station later that night.
The man told the court he believed his matter had been adjourned to a different day.
For the two charges the man was fined $700 and no conviction was recorded.
