A Western Downs man has lost his licence for a staggering two years and three months after a series of bad decisions saw him busted for drink driving twice in one day.
Lincoln Andrew Jannusch faced Dalby Magistrates Court on Tuesday pleading guilty to contravening a police order, driving while disqualified and driving while under the influence.
The court was told on December 29 at about 3.32pm Jannusch was intercepted by police and issued a breath test, returning a reading of 0.126.
He was then issued an on-the-spot disqualification and told not to drive until his court date.
Several hours later police were again conducting patrols when they detected Jannusch still driving. The court was told officers issued him another breath test which revealed he was still above the legal alcohol limit.
The court was told the 26-year-old FIFO worker had been drinking at the pub with his brother when he had made the foolish decision to drive home.
Jannusch had appeared in court for mid-range drink driving in August last year after police detected him at 1.57am driving his vehicle on Miles St, Dalby subjecting him to a breath test where he returned a reading of 0.129 while being on P-plates which required him to be zero.
For that offence he had lost his licence for three months and been fined $500.
“You’ve really blown it,” acting magistrate Robert Turra said.
“You were in court for mid-range in August so it’s clear you don’t learn quickly.”
Mr Turra took into account Jannusch’s good character and employment but said he could not ignore the blatant disregard for road rules.
Jannusch was sentenced to a two year and three months licence disqualification and was fined $1400.
