A 26-year-old woman with a strong social media presence bizarrely hurled her cat at police in an attempt to dodge officers at her Dalby residence.

On February 3 2022, Kiarra-Leigh Rose Minogue used the strange projectile against police officers who were called to her property.

Police prosecutor Chris Hutchins told Dalby Magistrates Court that when police arrived at the home, Minogue instructed police officers she had to put her cat inside before she would go with them.

“She picked up scissors that were on a stand and put them in her jacket pocket,” he said.

Sergeant Hutchins said when the police asked her to take the scissors out of her pocket, she became aggressive and hurled her cat at one of them.

“The police officers retrieved tweezers and the scissors from her jacket,” he said.

Minogue then yelled “f--k off” to police.

The officers grabbed her arms to walk her out to the police vehicle, and she dropped her body weight to the ground.

Minogue told police, “I’ll walk myself if you let me walk”, but when they released her she attempted to run back inside, the court was told.

Sergeant Hutchins told the court officers could not put a seat belt on the Dalby woman as she persisted to resist.

Duty lawyer Julia Molloy said the young woman, who has previously been fined for outbursts involving public nuisance and obstructing police, was a victim of coercive control and antagonised by her ex-husband.

“She was startled by police officers presence, she doesn’t recall a lot of it and is remorseful,” Ms Molloy said.

Minogue pleaded guilty to obstructing police and was fined $500 with no conviction recorded.
