A Chinchilla man has found himself with a conviction after flaunting his disregard for his probation and road rules.

Kennedy Brown, 25, appeared in the Chinchilla Magistrate Court on Thursday pleading guilty to breaching probation, driving while unregistered, driving while suspended and driving while on drugs.

The court was told on October 3 Brown was detected in Chinchilla and issued a roadside drug test where he returned a positive reading for methamphetamine and THC.

The following month on November 10 Brown’s Toyota HiLux was again intercepted on King St, Chinchilla this time for a licence check which revealed he was driving while suspended and driving while unregistered.

The court was told Brown was aware he had outstanding fines but did not know his licence had been suspended on October 19, he did however lament that he knew his registration had expired on October 13 but had been unable to pay for it.

Meanwhile, between June and September, Brown breached his probation order after five cases of failing to report.

The probation was made on June 13 for three breaches of a domestic violence order and one breach of bail.

The court was told the domestic violence order had been breached on May 27 after Brown attended his ex-partner’s property to pick up some of his things which she had left outside on the lawn while locking herself inside.

Brown then allegedly walked up to the property ripped the fly screen off, put his head through the gap and screamed at the aggrieved.

The following day Brown again breached the order after he sent several text messages to his ex to “get things off his chest” before launching into a tirade of abuse.

Magistrate Kathleen Payne described the offending as “immature and cowardly” and said by failing to report while on probation he was throwing it in the face of the court.

For his breach of probation a conviction was recorded.

For the driving offences Brown received a three month loss of licence, a $2000 fine and another conviction.
