Fauna Spotters appeared in Dalby Court for allegedly keeping protected animals without permit
A Western Downs business has pleaded not guilty to accusations that the company was keeping protected animals.
A Western Downs business has appeared in court for allegedly keeping and holding venomous snakes without a valid permit.
Managing director of Fauna Spotters, William Alexander Hunt, appeared in Dalby Magistrates Court on October 23 on behalf of the company to plead not guilty to two charges of take, use or keep a protected animal when not authorised to do so.
The Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation brought the charges against the company.
It is alleged that Mr Hunt, who is not charged personally, paid for two collett’s snakes, two tiger snakes and one red belly snake using company funds without the valid permit needed to purchase and hold the protected animals.
The hearing went part-heard and will resume on November 7, 2025.
