The message didn’t sink in for the 28-year-old man after he was busted several months later with the same drug in his system.

A Dalby man had both drugs and alcohol in his system on Christmas Day when he saw red and blue flashes in his rearview mirror.

Dale Con Lucas, 28, appeared in Dalby Magistrates Court on Tuesday after he dabbled with drugs and alcohol before he sat behind the wheel on two occasions.

The court heard Lucas was first intercepted in Biggera Waters near Southport at 5.58pm on December 25, where he was subject to a roadside breath test.

Police prosecutor sergeant Derek Brady said he recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.149 and a positive result for marijuana.

Lucas was then intercepted along Drayton Street in Dalby on April 23, where he again tested positive for marijuana.

Representing himself in court, Lucas argued against being put on a probation order, but admitted he “made a mistake” at both incidents.

He said he had been smoking due to an earlier knee construction.

The Dalby man pleaded guilty to two counts of drug driving, and one of drink driving.

He was fined $1450 and disqualified from driving for 12 months.
