A Dalby man has been hit with a $1500 fine after breaking into a local cleaning and catering business and stealing bags of lollies.
Michael David Blades faced the Dalby Magistrates Court on Tuesday where he pleaded guilty to stealing, possessing stolen property, possessing a drug pipe and contravening directions from a police office.
The court was told that at 7am on March 21 2024 the 46-year-old entered into the unlocked rear entrance of a local business on Archibald St, stealing $125 worth of large confectionery bags including lolly snakes, strawberries and cream and Cadbury chocolates.
Following the break-in police attended Blade’s home where they found more stolen lollies and a water pipe used to smoke cannabis.
Blade’s defence lawyer said his client had been on a mixture of painkillers for a back injury and alcohol at the time of the incident which had impaired his judgment.
Magistrate Kyna Morice noted Blades was on parole at the time of the offence and issued him a $1500 dollar fine, $125 in compensation for the stolen goods and recorded a conviction.
