QUEENSLANDERS have now gained back some of their cherished freedoms late last week such as being able to have a picnic, do some non-essential shopping and travel 50km from their homes.
While the streets of Dalby are not as vibrant as they once were, some people are seizing the opportunity to get out and about during this long weekend.
Gareth de Bruin and Peta Edwards spent Labour Day relaxing at Thomas Jack Park.
“It’s nice to be able to get out for a bit,” Mr de Bruin said.
They were enjoying a bit of fresh air while treating themselves to some McDonald’s under the shade.
Brad and Emily Prosser were among many Dalby residents taking a walk with their dogs along Myall Creek.
“We’ve had a picnic and went for a walk,” they said.
Over at Lake Broadwater, about 30km from Dalby, the Moyes family were enjoying the weather and having lunch.
“[We’re] glad to finally be able to leave the house (at a safe distance) and enjoy what the greater surrounds of Dalby have to offer for the family,” they said.
Jessica Zischke was picnicking near the lake with her newborn baby Sam and mother Aletha Funke.
“It’s been a fantastic beautiful day,” Mrs Zischke said.
“We’ve seen some very interesting birds.”
