NRL legend Andrew McCullough celebrated a full circle moment as he returned to his primary school in Dalby just days after announcing his retirement from playing rugby league.

The former Dragons and Broncos star visited Dalby State School on Thursday and brought some star power with him in the form of Broncos royalty Alex Glenn, Kurt Capewell, Tom Flegler and Jada Ferguson.

McCullough, who recently joined the Broncos Game Development team part-time, said he had received a great opportunity from the Brisbane team after announcing his retirement and was happy to move back to Queensland and be closer to family.

“It’s given me a chance to come home and get on with things,” he said.

“I have a one-year-old boy, he’s now got his grandmother up the road so we have a lot more family around, which helps.”

The former Dalby Devils player said he enjoyed helping get students outside the classroom.

“I just want to help kids have some confidence to reach their goal and to let them know you don’t have to go to a school of excellence, you can do it if you enjoy it and put in the hard work,” he said.

“It’s a bit of fun, making sure kids are outside and being active which is important as well.”
