A MAN has pleaded guilty in the Dalby Magistrates Court to unlicensed driving after being caught by police in April.
Joseph Richard Borg was driving down Branch Creek Road when police pulled him over.
Police prosecutor Jodie Tahana said Borg had his licence suspended after a speeding offence exceeding 40km/h.
Borg told the court he was sent paperwork by the Department of Transport and Main Roads that gave him the option of a three month suspension or 12 month good driving behaviour period.
He said he selected the option for good driving behaviour but was still disqualified from driving anyway.
“It was all a misunderstanding,” he said.
Magistrate Tracy Mossop told Borg that his vehicle was immobilised for seven days after the speeding incident.
“You haven’t double checked your paper,” she said.
“Misunderstanding the law is no excuse for committing an offence.”
Borg was slapped with a $200 fine and a six month licence disqualification.
