ATHLETICS: Dalby Little Athletics will not run this season after a lack of interest from organisers caused the group to fold this week.

Secretary Melissa McAteer said herself and one other person were the only attendees the Annual General Meeting

"Without support we can't get the committee up and running," McAteer said.

While a Friday night schedule caused a reduction of numbers last year, approximately 30 past participants will not have the option to return to the competition in 2018.

The closure of the group put an end to several years of committee fundraising and hard work.

"It was a bit disappointing (considering) all the work that was put in last year to get us all the fundraising and get the name out there," she said.

The former secretary stepped down from her position but said she was willing to help a new committee get established in the future.

The Little Athletics Club provided an opportunity for children and teenagers to compete in running, jumping and throwing on a weekly basis.
