DALBY'S sporting clubs have been forced to make drastic changes this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Dalby Devils have had to suspend all their activities until June 1 due to the restrictions.

President Tim Hart said that the junior rugby league team said that the future of this year's season is still up in the air.

"We still don't know if the season's going to progress," he said.

"We were literally going to start that weekend when the restrictions came in."

The Devils have had to follow the direction of Queensland Rugby League who have made the decision to cancel their games and tournaments.

"At the end of the day as a junior league, we can only abide by what the QRL does."

The club will be able to train for two weeks before tournaments begin, if they can return on the expected June 1 date.

Because the Devils are part of QRL and are therefore not considered a not-for-profit organisation, they are unlikely to receive any grants from the Western Down Regional Council's recovery package.

Mr Hart said that the Devils aren't experiencing financial hardship though.

"[Our local sponsors] have absolutely kept things going at the moment," he said.

"It will be a smaller season but we're going to do the best we can."
