A man involved in a horror car crash on a major Dalby road has tragically died in hospital.

David Connolly was sitting in the passenger seat of a car driven by his girlfriend who tragically died at the scene at 1.25am Tuesday morning.

A spokeswoman for Metro South Health last week told News Corp the 27-year-old was transferred from Toowoomba hospital to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.

Early investigations reported that the driver, Brooke Dalton lost control of the car while driving along Nicholson St.

Dalby officer-in-charge Terry McCullough said the wet road conditions were a big factor in the 23-year-old woman losing control of the vehicle, but noted that speed was also at play.

“It’s clear there was excess speed because of the distance the car travelled and the impact caused,” he said.

“It’s difficult for crash forensic investigators to determine an exact speed because of the wet conditions from it raining.”

He said that no other factors would be investigated until a coroner’s report was finalised.

Brooke’s mother Ann-Marie Dalton shared the grief their family has experienced and remembered her only daughter as someone who always “looked for the good in people”.

Friends close to Brooke continue to share their tributes to their beloved friend.
