From a much loved and anticipated footy showdown in Dalby to an afternoon of socialising with the Showgirls high tea in Chinchilla, there is an event or activity for everyone in the Western Downs this weekend.

Old Boys Day, Dalby

The Dalby Wheatmen will take on the Goondiwindi Emus in an epic clash of rugby union on Saturday starting from midday.

Located at the Dalby & District Rugby Union Football Club on Orpen St, Dalby attendees will get to see the A-grade players battle it out while wearing this year’s ‘Old Boys’ jersey.

The jerseys will be auctioned off at the end of the day, and entry to the event is $5.

‘The Little Mermaid’ musical, Dalby

Students from Our Lady of Southern Cross College are hosting The Little Mermaid musical over the weekend.

The performance’s opening night is Friday and begins at 7pm, with Saturday’s performance starting at 1pm and Sunday’s at 7pm.

For children under 18, tickets are $10 with an adult price of $15.

Showgirl High Tea, Chinchilla

Join in on an afternoon of fun with the Chinchilla Showgirls and discover who the showgirl winners are for 2023.

The event, which requires tables of 10 will host raffles, include a bar and a competition for best dressed.

The high tea will be at Chinchilla Showgrounds on Zeller St and start from 2pm on Saturday.

Fishing competition, Miles

The Miles District Fishing & Recreation Club are hosting the Miles Fishing Classic this weekend, with keen anglers gathering for the three day event on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Attendees can make the most of the long weekend and set up camp at Karingal Reserve with a barbecue being held each night.

Live music, Chinchilla

Live music by Mick Evans will be playing at the Chinchilla Commercial Hotel on Chinchilla St from 7pm Saturday.

Markets, Bunya Mountains

The Bunya Mountains markets are back on after a short break, and are being held on Sunday starting from 9am.

The markets can be found at the national park on Bunya Ave.

Traide ride, Kaimkillenbun

Organised by the Kaimkillenbun State School P&C, the long weekend will host a trail ride for keen riders.

The annual fundraiser will see attendees camp at Yamsion Hill Rd and Rangemore Rd with the site opening at 8.30am Sunday.

Adult entry is $55 and children’s $20.
