Dozens of people from the rugby league community turned up in style for the Dalby Diehards Long Ladies Lunch of 2022.

The theme ‘A touch of Amalfi’ saw the Dalby Leagues Club turned into a European dreamscape, with tables filled with vines and pops of green and yellow.

Keynote speaker and TV sports presenter Erin Molan was unable to attend due to flight cancellation, however she connected with the women via zoom to discuss previous challenges and her proudest achievements so far.

Ms Molan earlier told the Dalby Herald she was eager to visit Dalby for the first time and talked about the importance of women in sports.

“I used to dislike days that were specifically for ladies because it meant there was a need to push as if it wasn’t equal in terms of women supporting league,” she said.

“But now I think it’s amazing to acknowledge any group of people that give back to their community or love a certain thing.”

In support of the sports presenter and ladies day, Dalby Diehards football players donned a pink jersey for the day focused on tackling cyber-bullying, a cause Ms Molan has worked hard toward.

The pink jerseys included all names of the Diehards A grade players from #1 to #400 and the hashtag #dontbemeanbehindthescreen.

The annual occasion gave women the opportunity to socialise, sit back and relax during a great game of footy.
