THE students of Dalby State School made a big splash at their annual swimming carnival last week.

The swimming carnival was a welcome refresher from the scorching weather, while students competed head-to-head throughout the day.

The friendly rivalry between houses is always a highlight of the day. Oxley house won the top spot for the Junior carnival and Cunningham, captained by Emma Donaldson and Ben Smith, won big at the Senior carnival.

Two outstanding students broke some big records on the day. Kash Hunt and Emily Quinlan broke eight records between them. These records were in 50m freestyle, butterfly, backstroke and breaststroke.

Clayton Sternes and Lilly May Krause took out the Championship spot for freestyle, coming first overall for the day, while Josh Valler and Emily Quinlan were runners-up.
