Running into Christmas Time

Runners and athletes have turned up to the Parkrun in their Christmas best for a special holiday run

THE Dalby Parkrun celebrated Christmas a little early this year with a festive 'dress up and run'. A great crowd always turns up for the Parkrun, and this week was no exception. Runners were encouraged to dress up in their best Christmas clothes for an especially festive run.

With antlers, tutus, and Christmas hats galore, the group took on the run with Byron Smith coming in first. The Parkrun regular also celebrated his 100th Parkrun, and dressed up in his best running outfit for the occasion. Two father-son duos joined in on the race, with plenty of other families who joined in on the fun.

The Dalby Parkrun is coming up to its second year anniversary next February and turns out a greta crowd every week. The runners participate in rail, hail or shine, with the event only being cancelled if the Myall River floods over the course.

The five kilometre begins in the park on the corner of Edward St and Jimbour St. The event takes the runners past the Myall Creek, under the Drayton St bridge, down Patrick Street, and across the Mercy Bridge. Runners must complete this loop three times before running back to the starting line and finishing the event.

The best part of the event? The group goes out for coffee at a local cafe right after the race to relax and prepare for the weekend.

Whether you're a solo runner, with your whole family, or even just walking along with your dog, the Parkrun is open for everyone to come and join.
