Daycare and kindergarten kids will have their artworks on show at Gallery 107 this month for the 20th anniversary of KAOS.

Kids Art On Show (KAOS) first started 20 years ago with a previous Stuart Street Kindy director Susan Gleeson and the parents committee.

KASO's first show in 1998 was on display for family of the children for a weekend.

Since then the program has continued to grow.

The show now displays artwork from both Stuart Street Kindy and Dalby Daycare Centre.

Dalby Daycare Director Thushari Lammas said art helps children cross midline equilibrium with brain development.

"Not necessarily just the learning of the colours but thinking about what they're going to do and how they're going to paint,” Mrs Lammas said.

"It's really important we expose them to those creative experiences from a very young age because that does help a lot of developmental growth, fine motor and cognitive because they've got to think about what they're going to do.”

"Also to give them that ownership of feeling satisfied and proud of what they have created.”

"To someone else it might look like a scribble but the abstract work to the children still has a story and a meaning to it and that's what we value.”

Works by professional artists will be displayed upstairs at the gallery as part of the exhibition.

The inclusion of these works helps to boost the event and provides a special experience for the students.

"We take the children on excursion to see their artwork... that gives them that idea of 'yes we do artwork but there's grown ups that actually do the artwork too' so we take them upstairs and show all that and discuss how its not just for the children; expanding their way of thinking.”

The exhibition is on display and open to the public this month at Gallery 107.

Grand opening night in on Friday, November 9 at 7pm.

A Q and A, live and silent auctions, multi draw raffle and cash bar will all be available as part of the event.

Mrs Lammas was very grateful to the local businesses that had supported KAOS this year.

She also spoke highly of the work put in behind the scenes by the parents committee and staff from both centres to put the event together.

Tickets are $25 each and available from Stuart Street Kindy and Dalby Daycare.
