Heartbroken family seek $16,000 for renovations to welcome son home after tragic car crash

The family of a regional Queensland teen who lost his leg following a terrifying crash in March has appealed to the community for donations.

The family of a young Wandoan man who tragically lost his leg in a car crash earlier this year has launched a GoFundMe to renovate their home for his return from hospital.

Jeramy Henricks has been in hospital since March 4 after he crashed on the Leichhardt Highway when wild pigs ran in front of his vehicle.

Following the accident, the 19-year-old lost his right leg below the knee, forever changing his life.

In a GoFundMe Jeramy’s mother Lisa Henricks said they lived in a 95-year-old home which was not suitable to cater for Jeramy’s situation and needed money for renovations.

She said the donations would also go toward a prosthetic limb and a car to help Jeramy get around.

“He was working until his accident, we are a low income family that has worked all our lives but just don’t have the money to fix our house to for him to come home,” Ms Henricks wrote.

“We live five and a half hours away from the hospital where Jeramy is and we have to still go to work to paid the bills so we can only see him on a weekend, otherwise he is there by himself.

“My heart is broken every time I leave him alone in hospital.”

The family are hoping to raise $16,000 to cover the costs.
