Dalby’s Delicious and Delightful Festival made an epic comeback over the weekend, with hundreds of people hitting the town to celebrate the region’s best produce.
Massive crowds flocked to George Anderson Park to sample a stack of mouth-watering menu items from a range of food stalls, cooking demonstrations, and live music and entertainment on Saturday and Sunday.
The festival was launched in 2010 by the Dalby Welcoming Committee as a celebration of the town’s increasing diversity and agricultural industry.
One of the most popular events held on Saturday was the ‘Community Platter’, which featured family cook-offs and saw celebrity chef Matt Golinski present three cooking demonstrations highlighting the two major exports from Dalby, chickpeas and mung beans.
The two humble ingredients were also transformed into a huge variety of delicious treats by food vendors at the festival, with attendees able to sample ice cream, milkshakes, and dips made from the legumes.
The festival ended with a bang as hundreds of Dalby students were joined by their family and friends in marching around Myall Creek in the vibrant lantern parade.
The entry from Dalby State School took out the ‘best depiction of Dalby’ category, while the lantern made by Jondaryan State School was named the ‘most colourful’ of the event.
