Football clubs wax-off for a cure

Money will be raised at the next home games for Dalby football clubs, with leg waxing for one of the coaches for Shave for a Cure

It'll be a football clash like no other when the Dalby Wheatmen and Dalby 'Diehards' come up against each other in the ultimate challenge.... a leg wax.

Wheatmen A-grade coach Nathan "Worm” Bradley and Diehards A-grade coach Kerry Carmichael have agreed to put their bodies on the line and to support Fresser Family Fighters to raise funds for the Leukaemia Foundation and families facing blood cancer.

The wax-off was the brainchild of the boys' mate Shawn Fresser who is hosting a World's Greatest Shave event at Urban paddock on March 19. Shawn's mother Audrey Fresser is currently battling multiple myeloma.

"The Diehards contacted me as they wanted to contribute proceeds from a day's gate takings to the cause, and I thought let's make this interesting and invite the Wheatmen to get involved too,” Mr Fresser said.

"Worm had already said he'd do whatever we needed to help. Kerry has admitted that he's scared about the pain of having hot wax rip hair off his legs, but he said 'I'll do it for Audrey'.” Both clubs have thrown their support behind their coaches' crusade and will be fundraising at both home games being held on Saturday March 18 in Dalby.
