ANTICIPATING a busy year, the Dalby Chamber of Commerce expects its first major event of 2019 in February.

Chamber president Rohan May, said the chamber will host a breakfast with Mayor Paul McVeigh to help business owners capitalise on the influx of visitors the Big Skies event is set to bring to Dalby in April.

"There's a potential new shopping period that doesn't currently exist that the festival will bring to town,” Mr May said.

Additionally, changes are in store for the the Dalby Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the new year as it sets out to bring back Business Before Hours as well as reintroduce its Junior Chamber.

Mr May said Business Before Hours, the early morning version of Business After Hours that brings speakers in front of a crowd, would be returning in the new year.

"It fell away just as things got busy,” he said.

He said the event would mean attendees could hear from even more speakers.

"While the Business After Hours is popular, some of our members say it's difficult to attend that time of day and we find that our compressed format suits that time of day.”

"All our efforts lead up to our Business Excellence Awards, which will be another way to cap off a successful 2019 for Dalby business,” he said.

The business excellence awards will take place in October.
