The Dalby Chamber of Commerce has officially announced the return of their much beloved Christmas party.

The group opted to postpone their annual Business Excellence Awards in favour of the return of the Christmas Street Party, which will run from 5pm to 8pm on December 5.

As part of the event Cunningham St businesses have been invited to extend their hours for late-night trading and there will be a variety of local market stalls as well as children’s activities and crafts.

The event will kick off with the illumination of the Christmas tree and the much-anticipated arrival of Santa.

Local school groups and dancers will perform throughput the evening before the event is capped off with Carols by Candlelight, organised by the Dalby Minister’s Fraternal.

Additionally, the Dalby Chamber of Commerce & Industry has invited local businesses to participate in the Christmas Light Up Your Business Window competition, with judging to take place on the night of the event.

Dalby Chamber of Commerce vice president Nick Rogers previously told the Dalby Herald the new board had decided to postpone the awards, which had been running for almost 30 years to give them time to implement new ideas.

“The Business Excellence Awards are a massive part of our year, but what we wanted to do as a new board is to overhaul it and give it a refresher to make it bigger and better than years past,” he said.

“To do that we figured we’d postpone it this year to give us more time to focus and prep for next year and that also enables us to bring back the Christmas Street Party.

“Most of the feedback around the decision has been really positive, which has been great. A lot of people are excited to see the Christmas party come back to life and we look forward to celebrating the business awards next year.”

President Phil Ryan said they were pleased to bring back the popular event to Dalby.

“We are thrilled to bring back the Dalby Christmas Street Party this year,” he said.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together, support local businesses, and celebrate the festive season in a joyful, family friendly atmosphere.

“We encourage everyone to participate, whether it’s through late night trading, setting up a market stall, or simply coming along to enjoy the performances and activities. Let’s light up Dalby with our holiday spirit.”

Residents are encouraged to contact the Chamber of Commerce for any further information on the event.
