Western Downs Regional Council is seeking buyers for 50.46ha of council-owned land west of Dalby as part of efforts to attract investment into the region.

The land, which faces the Warrego Highway, is located 7.5 km from the Dalby CBD on Dalby-Apunyal Rd and is zoned for high impact industrial development.

The expression of interested was endorsed by council at its November Ordinary Meeting.

Western Downs Regional Council mayor Andrew Smith said the release of the two lots would help boost the region’s economy and lead to industry development opportunities.

“Our region is a recognised leader in agribusiness, energy and manufacturing, and the release of this land will attract business and investment opportunities to bolster economic growth,” he said in a press release.

“Council is keen to provide opportunities for the establishment of new or expansion of high impact industrial manufacturing and agribusiness activities.”

Mr Smith said council would be seeking a buyer who would foster strong relationships with local communities rather than the just highest bidder.

“Council will be treating this disposal of land holistically, in that we will not simply be focused on the highest purchase price, rather, the emphasis will be on the greatest economic and social impact for the region,” he said.

“We will also be considering the long-term investment and return for the region, which includes employment opportunities and positive contribution to the region’s liveability.

“Council is committed to partnering with developers and industries who are committed to being good neighbours.”

The Expression of Interest documentation will be released on Monday January 13, 2025, and can be found on the Tenders page of council’s website.

Site visits will be conducted on January 29.
