Art group showcases its talent in calendar

The Bell Art Group will next week launch their 2019 calendar, raising funds for the group and showing off what they can do.

BELL artists will next week unveil more than six months of hard work at the launch of their 2019 calendar.

Bell Art Group president Ruth Storey said the group had first produced a calendar in 2006 as part of the Bell centenary celebrations, and it had proved so popular it has continued to produce them every year since.

All money raised from the sale of the calendar supports the group, but Ms Storey said it was more than just funding.

"(It's about) presenting ourselves out there in the community for the arts,” Ms Storey said.

"As an art group we like to introduce as many people as we can to the arts and develop the arts in our own new week way in our region.”

She said each piece of art in the calendar was the result of the artist's hard work and dedication, and the calendar was the perfect platform to show off their skills.

"Each artist that participates in the calendar you will have an artist statement and that tells people why they chose that particular piece of work which is quite interesting for people to read,” she said.

This year's theme is 'Music of Australia' and the calendar will be officially unveiled by Councillor Peter Saxelby at the Bluebelles Gallery in Bell Bunya Community Centre on Saturday, October 20, from 10am.
