2022 Dalby Show triumphs only days after devastating floods
Forced to scramble and condense weeks of preparation into only a few days after the week’s extreme weather, stallholders at this year’s Dalby Show have turned their struggle into success.

It’s been a very busy last couple of days for Dalby Show organisers and stall owners as they have scrambled to put tents and pavilions together to make the most of what they had after being swamped by recent floods.
Nuts Bolts and Fasteners general manager Lindesay Jones is one of the sponsors at this year’s Dalby Show, and the past week saw him take on what almost seemed like an impossible challenge.
“I usually have about a week to set up everything at the Show, this year I had two days,” Mr Jones said.
Mr Jones said he had sponsored the Dalby Show for five years, with the Show Society in previous years having time to prepare his undercover area before his reps arrived.
“I was here Wednesday and Thursday while still running a business,” he said.
On top of having to scramble for two days, Mr Jones says he has two members of his team out with Covid.
“We do it all though, because we like to make it interesting for people.”
“I’m really enjoying today because I’ve done nothing but run around.”
Supervising the photography section of the Dalby Show is Julie Parsons, who says while the quality of photographs in this year’s competition is excellent, they’ve fallen a few short of entries.
“There are less entries this year, I think people haven’t had the time,” she said.
There is a similar sentiment with the floral art exhibit, as a supervisor said that they don’t have as many on display this year, due to people not being able to send them in after the floods.
While many stalls have had to adapt this year, it hasn’t stopped people from rallying and attending the event as the first day has already impressed many stall owners.
