A Sunshine Coast man has died after a serious two-vehicle crash that shut down the D’Aguilar Highway at Caboolture this morning.

A Sunshine Coast man has died after a serious two-vehicle crash that sparked major traffic delays on a highway north of Brisbane.

The crash happened on the D’Aguilar Highway on ramp to the Bruce Highway at Caboolture about 6.30am where a 50-year-old Palmview man died at the scene.

Police said initial inquire indicated a yellow MG5 collided with a silver Toyota LandCruiser on the southbound Bruce Highway on ramp.

The driver of the LandCruiser, a 47-year-old Caboolture man, was taken to the Caboolture Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam vision to come forward.

The on ramp had been closed for several hours following the crash and motorists were urged to avoid the area.
