A BRISBANE woman who is transitioning to become a male faces a potential “life in prison” sentence for allegedly raping a woman they met on Tinder, a court has heard.
The 23-year-old allegedly raped the victim digitally, orally and with a strap-on penis at her home in Everton Hills over the weekend.
The court heard that the victim reported the alleged rape to a friend and then to police on Sunday.
The accused faces five charges including sexual assault, rape, occasioning bodily harm and deprivation of liberty.
Bail was granted after a brief appearance at the Magistrates Court in Brisbane this morning.
Prosecutor Kahler opposed bail and said if found guilty the accused faced possible “life in prison”.
He said the victim sustained serious injures and the prosecution’s evidence “was strong”.
The court heard the victim was sat on and pinned against the wall by the accused and repeatedly said she did not want to have sex.
The accused’s defence lawyer said the case involved “complex issues of consent”.
Magistrate Stuart Shearer granted the accused bail with strict conditions including that the accused must reside at her parents’ house in The Gap.
They must report to the Ferny Grove police station every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and must not leave the parents’ residence between 6am and 6pm.
Magistrate Shearer ordered the accused comply with a disease test order as requested by police.
The accused must not contact the alleged victim in any way and is due to return to court on November 21 in Brisbane.
