UPDATE: Terrifying footage of an alleged home invasion has been played to a court in the extraordinary defamation trial of a Gold Coast school principal.
Tamborine Mountain state high school principal Tracey Brose is suing a number of disgruntled parents for more than $1 million over a series of allegedly defamatory social media posts following her mysterious suspension in early 2016.
She was eventually cleared of any wrongdoing and reinstated a few months later, but is suing the parents over posts which alleged she was ‘evil’ and ‘a bully’.

Giving evidence in court on Tuesday, Mrs Brose’s husband Peter Brose told of the night one of the disgruntled parents, Miguel Baluskas, tried to bash down the family’s front door after allegedly saying he was coming to kill them for ruining his life.
The incident is the subject of a separate criminal case scheduled to go to court next month.
Mr Brose said he started to record the incident on his mobile phone because ‘if he kills me I need to get some evidence’.
The court was shown a video of a glass door being kicked in as the person holding the mobile phone repeatedly yells for the attacker to ‘stop it’.
Mr Brose then heads to the kitchen and returns to the front door carrying a large knife.
“Mate, I’ve got a knife here,” he says in the footage.
The video cuts out a few seconds later and Mr Brose told the court Mr Baluskas quickly left the scene.
The hearing continues.
EARLIER: Education Queensland told teachers at Tamborine Mountain State High School that a principal suspended over ‘serious’ allegations was simply on leave, a court has been told.
Tamborine Principal Tracey Brose has launched a $1 million defamation lawsuit against a group of disgruntled parents over a series of comments on social media after she was suspended in early 2016.
Education Queensland initially found the allegations — which have never been publicly aired, to be substantiated, but Mrs Brose was eventually cleared to return to work three months later.
Giving evidence in the defamation trial at Southport District Court on Tuesday, Tamborine department head Rebecca Ireland said staff had been told by the education department that Mrs Brose was ‘on leave’ and not to comment on the matter.
Ms Ireland said she believed Mrs Brose WAS on leave and heard nothing about the controversial suspension until rumours began swirling on a Change. Org petition to have her reinstated.
“The education department was still informing staff that she was on leave, and I take my directive from Education Queensland,” she said.
“I didn’t officially find out she had been suspended until she was reinstated.”
One of the parents being sued, Donna Baluskas, suggested the education department had covered up the true reason for Mrs Brose’s lengthy absence.
Ms Ireland also told the court Mrs Brose had an ‘impeccable’ reputation and saw no evidence to support claims some parents had made on social media that the school principal was a tyrant who favoured academic students at the expense of others.
The trial continues.
