A BRISBANE mother who founded a charity for children fighting a rare disease has fronted court charged over allegedly dealing methamphetamine, including to kids.

Police say they have “cut the head off the snake” of a major drug operation they claim was run by Kristine Roebig, whose home was an “Aladdin’s cave” of stolen property.

The Bald Hills woman, 48, is allegedly linked to the Northside Gang and was distributing ice for cash and stolen goods.

Detective Sen-Sgt Ken Rogers said Roebig was the “main target” of the six-month Operation Broadside, which focused on property crime in Brisbane’s north and saw 27 arrests and more than 90 charges for drugs and stolen property.

Roebig founded BrAshA-T in 2007 to raise awareness and money for Ataxia-Telangiectasia, a rare children’s disorder.

“The main target of the operation was a 48-year-old woman from Bald Hills who … when the search warrant was executed on her place, revealed an Aladdin’s Cave of stolen property,” Sen-Sgt Rogers said. “She would carry on the business of distributing methylamphetamine to her customers in exchange for money and or property.

“By taking out her, we believe we’ve sort of cut the head off the snake, so to speak, and that’s put a significant dent in property crime throughout the northern suburbs of Brisbane.”

Sen-Sgt Rogers said Roebig’s alleged customers included children and Northside Gang members, who  police claim her son is linked to.

“Investigations have revealed links to the Northside Gang, but it’s probably fair to say if you had drugs or stolen property, she was prepared to distribute drugs to you,” he said.

The raids resulted in more than 90 drug and property crime charges in Brisbane’s north.

Sen-Sgt Rogers said a range of stolen property was recovered and police were still working to identify its owners.

“You have to see it to believe it to be honest, it’s a wide range of property, including stolen scooters, push bikes … sunglasses, Louis Vuitton handbags,” he said.

“This investigation even revealed she (allegedly) sold drugs for a stolen set of movie tickets.”

It is understood Roebig was granted bail at Pine Rivers Magistrates Court yesterday.
