Pregnant teen’s murder case in court

A POLICE prosecutor says there is a large brief of evidence against the man accused of murdering pregnant teenager Tiffany Taylor. The 16-year-old’s body has not been found.

A QUEENSLAND man accused of murdering pregnant teenager Tiffany Taylor has been remanded in custody for two more months.

The case of Rodney Wayne Williams, 60, was briefly mentioned in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Friday following his August arrest in relation to the 16-year-old’s murder.

Police Prosecutor Sergeant Kelly Fitzgibbon requested a two-month adjournment.

“We’ve spoken to the arresting officer yesterday and defence. There’s quite a large brief,” she said.

Police are yet to find Ms Taylor’s body but have said the teenager, who was 20 weeks pregnant, met Mr Williams online the day she disappeared.

She was last seen on July 12 leaving a motel in the Logan suburb of Waterford West, where she lived with her long-term boyfriend.

“We’ve also been able to establish that Tiffany was offering sexual services for money over the online dating services,” Detective Superintendent Dave Hutchinson said in August.

Tiffany’s family has said that was out of character for her, and would have been a last resort to support her family.

Supt Hutchinson said the case highlighted the dangers of meeting anonymous online contacts in real life.

Williams will next appear via videolink on December 11 for a committal mention.
