Police officer caught using speed radar from bushes on busy road

MOTORISTS are outraged after a police officer was caught hiding in bushes with a speed radar gun on a busy road.

Images of the police officer were shared on Facebook, stating the police officer was hiding in the bushes on Anzac Avenue in Petrie.

Social media users questioned the act as “revenue raising” and whether it complied with standard policies and procedures.

QPS made a statement after the incident was widely circulated on social media today.

Road Policing Command Assistant Commissioner Mike Keating said the officer had been identified and “was requested to cease operating from that position immediately”.

“The deployment will be reviewed against the guidelines for the operation of this particular type of device.”
