AN Australian Ninja Warrior contestant from Logan has been busted with cannabis and valium at a Brisbane serviced apartment, a court has heard.
Sopiea Kong, 29, a stylist from Loganholme who appeared on the show on July 9, has been charged with possession of the drugs at the Quest apartments in Woolloongabba on June 20.
Kong did not appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning when her case was mentioned before Magistrate Suzette Coates.
However court documents reveal Kong appeared in person when the case was first mentioned on July 24.
Court documents reveal Kong was charged after police found her with cannabis and valium at the Quest apartments in Woolloongabba at 10.30am on June 20 — two weeks before her television appearance was aired.
Two days later, Kong posted photos to Instagram of her backstage during filming of the show.
She was charged by police from Dutton Park police station and is charged with two counts of drug possession.
Kong’s solicitor told the court today that Kong had a conference with another solicitor on Friday and was in “regular contact with” the office.
Her lawyers plan to ask police for further details of the charges, the court was told.
Magistrate Coates agreed to adjourn the case until September 6.
