CONVICTED killers Garry Dubois and Vincent O’Dempsey have lost their bids to have convictions for the 1974 McCulkin murders overturned.

Dubois was in 2016 found guilty of the 1974 murders of Brisbane sisters Vicki and Leanne McCulkin and the manslaughter of their mother Barbara.

O’Dempsey was found guilty of all three murders.

Both men, who were jailed for life, have maintained their innocence and appealed their convictions shortly after juries found them guilty of the horrific killings that occurred in Brisbane more than 40 years ago.

Dubois argued during his appeal hearing that key witnesses testimony about confessions he made in 1970 was unreliable because the witnesses were intoxicated at the time they relayed the admissions said to have been made by Dubois.

O’Dempsey argued the summing up in his trial was unbalanced and had lead to a miscarriage of justice.

The Queensland Court of Appeal this morning dismissed both appeals.

More to come.
