Latest accused kidnap mum linked to first
A FORMER Queensland mother – believed to have connections to a woman who allegedly abducted her twin daughters – has been arrested for kidnapping her own child.
A FORMER Townsville mother – believed to have connections to a woman who allegedly abducted her twin daughters – has been arrested for kidnapping her own child.
The woman, 56, was yesterday arrested in NSW in relation to a boy, 7, who vanished from Townsville on March 31.
Queensland detectives will travel to Port Macquarie to extradite the woman in relation to one count of child stealing, a police spokesman confirmed last night.
The woman is believed to be linked to another Townsville woman who allegedly abducted her twin daughters in 2014.
The mother was arrested in Taree in NSW this month and has already been extradited to Queensland where she has been released on bail.
Her husband had won custody of the children in the family court in the lead-up to their disappearance.
In April 2015, the Family Court issued a recovery notice for the twins.
Later, the twins’ father offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to the return of his children.
Last month, the father made an impassioned plea for help on the fourth anniversary of their disappearance.
Just days before they were located by police, he said he was worked hard at keeping his expectations low.
“You do feel, and at times, you have to accept that you’re doing everything you can,” he said of his long battle to find them.
“But you feel bad, you feel guilty, that there might be other things you could be doing.
“Even the police say that if you are living off the grid, it can be pretty impossible to find someone.
“It’s going to be some chance event, some member of the public seeing something and making a call.”
