Larissa Beilby memorial: Family and friends remember teen’s life at service in Strathpine

DEANNA Beilby says her heart is broken over her sister Larissa’s death and has spoken of her infectious laugh and love of music in a tribute to the teen.
Larissa, 16, died last month and Zlatko Sikorsky has been charged with her murder.
Hundreds of people turned out for a memorial at Strathpine in Brisbane’s north today.
Sixteen doves were released in Larissa’s honour.
“As a nation we’ve been brought together under the most horrific circumstances and I hope we stand together until justice is served to our 16-year-old daughter, sister and friend,” Deanna told the crowd.
Deanna joked that sometimes Larissa would greet her with “hello cutey” and other days “hello ugly”.
She said her sister had an infectious laugh.
“I couldn’t help but laugh along with her,” she said.
“She loved music, she loved Bliss n Eso, she loved make-up, fashion and online shopping.”
Deanna said she would miss her coming into her room to make cookies in the morning.
“I’ll miss everything about you Riss and my heart is broken,” she said.
“I’ll spend every day loving you and remembering you as a funny, gorgeous, smart, cheeky girl … I can’t wait to see you again Riss.”
Larissa’s father Peter and brother Nathan were also at the memorial today.
Nathan said: “I love you Larissa and so does everyone here. A lot of people do and always will. See you around Riss.”
The teen was allegedly murdered by Zlatko Sikorsky, 34, who was arrested by police after a largescale manhunt and siege on the Sunshine Coast.
Larissa was reported missing on June 26 by her father.
She was not living at home at the time and was last seen leaving transitional accommodation in Sandgate on June 15.
After her father reported her missing, police concerned for her safety discovered her bank card had been used at a McDonald’s restaurant.
CCTV footage from the restaurant led them to a black ute, which they tracked to a Buccan property on June 27.
When officers knocked on the door of the Buccan property Sikorsky allegedly fled in a black ute.
The black ute was dumped at a mobile home park at Stapylton, about 30 minutes south of Brisbane, where police later uncovered the barrel and a girl’s body.
Sikorsky then fled in a silver 2014 Holden Commodore with a sunroof, beginning an intensive manhunt.
Police confirmed it was Larissa’s body and said she had been in a relationship with Sikorsky.
Sikorsky has since been charged with two counts of attempted murder, in relation to a 32-year-old woman at the beginning of June.
An online fundraiser has been set up, with more than $15,000 raised. Her family say the money will go to charity.
