A BRISBANE Supreme Court jury has been unable to reach a verdict in the trial of a man accused of bludgeoning Peter Milos to death with a hammer and spirit level.
The 12-person jury deliberated the fate of James Thomas Howell for more than a day before handing a note to Justice Peter Lyons on Wednesday afternoon.
Howell had pleaded not guilty to murdering Mr Milos at a Morningside property on May 4, 2014.
Justice Lyons discharged the jury shortly before 3pm, thanking them for their care and commitment during the trial.
Mr Milos was found dead in the storage room of the house he was renting after being allegedly bludgeoned with a spirit level and hammer.
The case will be mentioned next week.
