Ice trafficker pleads guilty to seven charges

A BRISBANE promo model turned ice trafficker who received drugs orders on her phone while being interviewed by police has walked free from court.

Hannah Renae Page was in the Supreme Court in Brisbane yesterday where Justice Roslyn Atkinson said her crimes were “serious and concerning” because her street dealing “escalated” after she was busted the first time.

The court heard the 27-year-old kept peddling drugs while on bail.

Prosecutor Caroline Marco told the court Page was first charged with drugs offences in August 2015 when the drugs were found in a stolen car she was driving.

Then in March 2016 she was found with 26 grams of pure ice considered a “commercial amount”, as well as $7200 cash found in a “pat down search” of her body, and a “tick list” of customers which showed she was selling drugs at a street level between January and March 2016.

The following month, while on bail, she was caught dealing again – this time she was living in a hotel had sold more than 43 grams of the drug in 10 days.

She yesterday pleaded guilty to seven charges, the most serious of which were two counts of trafficking in ice. She admitted selling drugs between January 1, 2016, and March 26, 2016, then again between April 10 and April 21 this year.

The court heard she was stopped by police in her car for a drug test on April 6 this year and recorded a positive test to ice, and then a search found she had $12,560 cash.

When she was taken back to the station, her drug customers continued to message her with orders.

Her phone contained 436 “drug-related messages”, of which 31 related to her supplying drugs.

The court heard that Page’s descent into dealing drugs came after she started taking ice when she was in “abusive relationships”.

Justice Atkinson sentenced Page to a wholly suspended four-and-a-half years in prison, but ordered her immediate release on parole because she had already served nearly a year in custody on remand.

The court heard she was the first prisoner to serve time on remand at the low-security Helana Jones Centre in Albion.

Her barrister, Michael Copley QC, told the court Page had been addicted to ice when she was arrested and now “looks a good deal healthier than her photos at the watch-house”.
