EX-BANDIDOS enforcer Jacques Teamo has been bashed by a gang of prisoners in Arthur Gorrie jail.

The former bikie was smashed with an exercise bike seat, with up to seven others involved.

He is understood to have been taken in a serious condition from the privately run jail to hospital on Monday morning.

The Courier-Mail has been told Teamo shouldn’t have been put in the jail unit, which has Mongols and Bandidos inside.

It’s understood Mongols were involved in the incident.

The unit, which has one prison officer to 36 prisoners, was put into lockdown after the bashing.

Teamo is understood to have received a number of serious cuts to his face, including a long gash on his forehead and nose, which required stitches.

Teamo, 48, is on remand for an alleged assault at Pacific Fair shopping centre on the Gold Coast and for drug possession.

Notorious underworld figure Carl Williams was bashed to death with the stem of an exercise bike in Victoria’s Barwon jail in 2010.

A Queensland Corrective Services spokesman confirmed a man, 48, was transported to hospital for treatment after the altercation with a number of other prisoners on Monday.

Questions about how the prisoners were able to make a weapon out of exercise equipment were not answered.

“The prisoner was assessed by medical staff at the centre before being transferred for further treatment,” the spokesman said.

“No officers were injured in the incident, which has been referred to the CSIU for investigation.”

United Voice coordinator Damien Davie said the main concern was for the safety of its members.

The union represents officers at the jail.

“Everyone has the right to go to work and come home safely,” he said.

“This is another example of GEO (the operator of the private jail) letting down its workers and putting profits over the safety of its employees.

“We have major concerns that if this kind of violence can be directed at a high profile prisoner, it can also be directed at our prison officers.

“It’s time for the State Government to stop sitting on their hands. They need to act now and announce a new contractor for Arthur Gorrie prison, before there’s more violence or someone loses their life.”

In 2012, Teamo was shot by Mongols bikie Mark James Graham at Robina Town Centre.

Less than two years later, Teamo was expelled from the Bandidos, with club members reportedly ordered to “shoot on sight”.

Senior Bandidos were reportedly livid over Teamo’s involvement in the Robina Town Centre shooting and his alleged role in a Broadbeach brawl.
