BEFORE being shot dead Comanchero bikie Shane Ross fought hard to overturn a prison sentence that marred an otherwise “not at all bad” criminal history.

The case revolved around a raid on Ross’s home after his name came up during the trial of ice kingpin Ivan Tesic.

Ross was reported missing by friends after a fatal traffic crash on Friday, October 18.

The founder of Monstr Clothing, 36, a member of the Comancheros outlaw motorcycle club, was found by a friend dead under a bridge at Tallebudgera on the Gold Coast on the following Monday.

The body was found about one kilometre away from where his friend and business partner, Cameron Martin died in the single-vehicle crash on Tallebudgera Creek Road on Friday, when he lost control of his car and crashed into a tree.

Martin is believed to have been shot in the chest before crashing his Mercedes Benz as he fled Martin Sheils Park adjacent to Tallebudgera Creek.

The two, who were partners in the Monstr clothing label, are thought to have met their killer or killers at the park for what police suspect was a drug deal or other murky transaction-gone-wrong.

Jailed ice kingpin Ivan Tesic was found guilty after a drug mule turned prosecution witness linked him to having enough meth oil to produce $5.25 million worth of ice.

But during the trial Tesic’s lawyers had claimed the mule was trying to protect Shane Ross who was allegedly the real drug kingpin on the Gold Coast. There is no suggestion Tesic had anything to do with Ross’s death.

Days later in June 2017 police raided Ross’s Gold Coast home and business finding steroids, fireworks and several smartphones.

Ross later pleaded guilty to five charges, including one for failing to provide the pass codes to some of the phones.

The Magistrate noted Ross’ criminal history was “not at all bad” and fined him $500 for the steroids and fireworks.

But for failing to provide passwords to five BlackBerry phones he sentenced Ross to a one-year jail sentence, wholly suspended.

“The very number of phones, indeed, raises question marks, and the nature of the BlackBerry as a very secure device raises further question marks,” the Magistrate said.

Despite not having to see the inside of a jail cell Ross appealed the suspended jail term in the District Court.

When his appeal was knocked back he took it to the Supreme Court which also dismissed his application in May this year.
