Controversial mosque ‘verbal abuse’ pastor to be deported to New Zealand

A NEW Zealand national who allegedly disrupted proceedings at a Brisbane mosque this week will be deported from Australia.

A NEW Zealand national who allegedly disrupted proceedings at a Kuraby mosque, in Brisbane’s south, this week will be deported from Australia.

A group of men claiming to be journalists allegedly abused Muslims at a Brisbane mosque Logan Robertson (pictured) from the Pillar Baptist Church was then filmed in a heated debate with an Islamic Council of Queensland spokesman at another mosque nearby.

Federal Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton today confirmed Australian Border Force officers last night took the man into custody overnight with plans to rip up his visa.

The man was charged with public nuisance on Thursday after he verbally attacked attendees at a mosque.

Mr Dutton said the New Zealand national was warned prior to his entry into Australia that actions outside of his visa would see him deported from the country.

“ I want to deliver a very clear message, people who come on visas into our country come here with certain conditions,” he said,

“Our country embraces free speech but doesn’t tolerate hate speech and we don’t tolerate people who are going to harass those people going about their business at a place of worship.

“Whether you are going to a mosque, whether you are going to a church, people have the right within our country to practice their religious belief and to do it unhindered. “

Australian Border Force Officers will work with Queensland Police to continue investigations into the matter.
