BRUCE Morcombe spent a morning trying to book an airline ticket under a false name in a bid to exact “Old Testament revenge’’ on his son’s killer, the coming film Where is Daniel? will reveal.

The explosive scene is one of many fresh insights the feature movie’s makers promise will captivate audiences across the globe, even Australians who have followed the family’s heart-wrenching story for more than a decade.

In select scenes provided to The Courier-Mail, murdered schoolboy Daniel Morcombe’s parents Bruce and Denise courageously share the rawest of emotions that erupted out of the media spotlight.

They are at boiling point after the inquest into their son’s disappearance exposed Brett Cowan as the most likely to have committed the heinous crime.

Bruce confesses to Denise that he had spent all morning trying to book an airline ticket under a false name because he wanted to fly to Perth and confront “that bastard Cowan’’.

The only thing that stopped him, the film will reveal, was he realised that even if he used an alias, everyone would recognise him.

Denise asked her husband what he had planned to do when he arrived there, to which he replied: “I dunno … kill him?’’

His wife pushes her husband on the point, asking if he killed him (Cowan), did he think it “would finish it’’.

“No ... it’ll never end,’’ Bruce replies.

In another scene, Denise is portrayed at her lowest ebb, a day in which she feels she can’t go on after seeing a 13-year-old boy at a shopping centre and thinking it was her “Danny’’ and “he’d come back’’.

Director and co-writer Peter Cousens said what went on behind the scenes in Australia’s most compelling battle for truth and justice and the police sting that caught a monster would shock and inspire viewers from around the world.

Morcombes react to Cowan decision

Mr Cousens said the stoic and seemingly in-control figure that was Bruce Morcombe would be seen as never before.

“He was filled with a lot of Old Testament vengeance,” he said. “You think he is a rock, but people will be very surprised when they learn more about Bruce. His reactions are quite extraordinary and unexpected.”

With still $200,000 to raise in six days, producers are hoping to encourage people to make pledges of $25. If the $300,000 crowd-funding target isn’t met, it will mean significant delays and could see the film released in three to five years instead of 2017-2018.

Executive Producer Rod Hopping said the community’s help was needed by Thursday and funds raised would be used to finalise the script, bring in casting agents and secure actors and locations.

Rewards include being in the credits, movie tickets, being an extra, or receiving a ticket to the red-carpet screening with cast and crew.
