A BRISBANE private school student is facing child porn charges after he allegedly lost his USB stick at a school band camp, a court has been told.

A BRISBANE Boys’ College student is facing child porn charges after he lost his USB stick at a school band camp, a court has been told.

The teen appeared before Magistrate Anne Thacker in Brisbane Magistrates Court yesterday, represented by leading defence silk Michael Byrne, QC.

Police will allege the 20 images of child porn were found by a fellow student at the camp, who was viewing the contents of a USB that he discovered during a two-day music camp in late July.

The student reported the find to a supervising teacher and the USB was alleged to have belonged to the teen.

He was charged by police at Indooroopilly on July 29.

He was released on bail to appear at the Brisbane Magistrates Court next month. He was accompanied to court by a man believed to be his father.

Mr Byrne has represented high-profile clients, as well as being a former deputy director of Public Prosecutions.
