The world’s top Test batsman Marnus Labuschagne is preparing for a new chapter.
The Queensland cricket star announced on Friday morning that he is expecting his first child, a baby girl, in a sweet tribute to his wife Rebekah.
The couple, who were teenage sweethearts, chose to share the news while celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary.
“Happy 5 year wedding anniversary my beautiful wife. It has been a pleasure to do life with you. I am so excited about our next adventure as a family,” Labuschagne, 27, wrote alongside a photo of Rebekah cradling her baby bump.
The couple met when they were teenagers, mixing in the same church youth group circles in Brisbane, and began dating when Rebekah was 17.
They married at Mount Cotton’s Sirromet Winery in 2017, shortly before Labuschagne’s Test debut and meteoric rise in international cricket.
“Life is so much better than we could have ever imagined and it is such a blessing to be able to do it by your side. Here’s to the next chapter together,” Rebekah wrote on Friday alongside an ultrasound image.
