CoCo the one-year-old dachshund has been found safe and well after she was stolen in broad daylight from outside a Brisbane shop.

Arthur & Co. Pet Concierge, who helps locate lost or stolen pets, shared on social media that CoCo has been handed in to the local vet.

“After working around the clock and working hand-in-hand with Hendra Police, Arthur & Co. managed to convince the offender to drop CoCo to the vet,” they said.

CCTV footage captured the moment CoCo was allegedly stolen by two people on New Year’s Eve at about 10.30am from outside the BWS store in Nundah Village.

The dog had been tied to a traffic bollard outside the bottle shop while her owners had quickly ducked into the local pharmacy.

They found her missing when they returned five minutes later.

CCTV footage obtained from the shopping centre has shown two people, one man and a teenage boy patting CoCo with another female before the man undoes her lead, picks her up and rushes away with the young boy in tow.

Talking to The Sunday Mail, Cornelia Gistinger described feeling “sick and distraught” after watching the CCTV footage, which showed two people, a man and a teenager, picking up CoCo and casually walking away.

Ms Gistinger said she felt sorry for a woman also caught on film who was seemingly unaware of the situation as she waved the pair off after giving CoCo a pat.

“They picked up CoCo, my dog, like it was theirs and walked away – and that poor lady there, wouldn’t have known any different,” she said.

“I’ve only watched it once - I’m just so traumatised, it’s so distressing”

Ms Gistinger said CoCo was like her child and revealed the favourite of her grandchildren.

“She was spoiled and loved, and my grandchildren loved her,” she said.

“Every day we’d be asked, ‘Where’s CoCo? Where’s CoCo?’

“She’s my baby.”

Ms Gistinger also called into question the motivations behind the theft.
